A: Well, sir, you see, this recession has hit me pretty bad. I lost my job and I'm in a lot of debt.

A: Yeah, you know. I've got credit card bills, car payments. I've got to pay my mortgage and on top of all that, I have to pay my son's college tuition.

C: So you're asking for a loan.

A: Well I just thought maybe you could help me out.

Notes:

1.recession經濟衰退。In a recession, many people lost their jobs.在經濟衰退中，很多人失去了工作。The economy is starting to climb out of recession.經濟正開始慢慢走出蕭條。

2.in debt負債累累。If I owe you money, I'm in debt.如果我欠你錢，我就是欠債。

3.mortgage房屋抵押貸款。A mortgage is a type of a loan. Basically, it's a loan that helps you to buy a house.抵押貸款是貸款的一種，幾本書就是幫助你買房的貸款。

4.loan貸款；借出。We could apply for/take out a loan to buy a car.我們可以申請貸款去買汽車。

5.broke破產的；身無分文的。go broke破產。Many small businesses went broke during the recession.經濟蕭條時期，許多小企業都破產了。
